A 1960s ceramic table lamp designed by French artist Georges Pelletier. This captivating piece features a rounded base accented with circular cutout and inset accents. The textured, porous ceramic is beautifully glazed in a range of rich brown and ochre hues. This lamp includes a natural woven grasscloth shade. Unmarked. France, 1960s.

Georges Pelletier, born in 1938 in Brussels, is a renowned ceramist based in Cannes, France. Pelletier began his ceramic journey at the Pioulier School in Vence in 1953 and later studied at the Académie Charpentier and the École des Arts et Métiers in Paris, honing his skills at the Poteries d’Accolay. 

Influenced by the vibrant Parisian art scene, he often visited Fernand Léger's studio. In the early 1960s, Pelletier opened his first ceramic studio in Paris, where his distinctive pieces caught the attention of Maison Bobois, leading to a successful collaboration from 1961 to 1973. Since 1973, he has worked in Cannes, creating his signature solar motif ceramics adorned with golden beads on chrome nickel rods, alongside his son.
