Born in 1901, Marc du Plantier was a multifaceted French artist, designer, and decorator renowned for his contributions to decorative arts, furniture design, and painting. Initially trained as a painter and architect, he established himself as a designer in Paris in 1930. Known for his originality and independence, he collaborated with fashion houses and designed private residences, as well as stage sets and costumes for theaters like La Comédie Française.

Du Plantier's work was influenced by the simplicity of antique pieces, leading him to create timeless furniture, lighting, and objects. He employed luxurious and rare materials, such as semi-precious stones and coral, combined with geometrically shaped metal or wood frames. His designs often reflected a blend of Neoclassical and Art Deco styles, catering to an elegant, refined, and affluent clientele.
