Italian Tan Leather Lounge Chair Attributed to Giuseppe Rossi di Albizzate, 1970s

$4,600.00

An inviting 1970s Italian lounge chair attributed to Giuseppe Rossi di Albizzate. Its sculptural form, with deep-set curves and a generously cushioned frame, is wrapped in supple tan leather that cradles the body in comfort. The ruched leather detailing and patinated finish enhance the organic silhouette, creating a soft, lived-in feel. This chair rests on two solid, low-profile bases, grounding its voluminous presence.

Giuseppe Rossi, the visionary behind Rossi di Albizzate, redefined Italian design when he founded his namesake company in 1935. Initially rooted in crafting mattresses and saddlery, Rossi’s ambition quickly evolved. By the late 1930s, his innovative armchair-bed patent signaled a turning point, establishing his legacy in functional, forward-thinking design.

The 1950s saw Rossi di Albizzate shift focus to high-end furniture, collaborating with renowned architects and designers. Fusing Italian craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, the brand helped shape mid-century design. A founding member of the Milan Furniture Fair in 1961, Rossi solidified his brand’s place in the luxury market, merging traditional artisan techniques with cutting-edge design.
