19th Century French Ochre Terracotta Confit Pot
A traditional 19th-century French confit pot, handcrafted in terracotta and finished with a vibrant ochre glaze. The surface reveals a delicate crackle, with subtle traces of cobalt blue and rose—timeworn remnants of its life in the French countryside. Its rounded form is accented by twin petite handles.
Historically used to preserve duck or goose confit, these vessels were partially buried in cool cellar earth to maintain a stable temperature. The glazed upper protected the contents above ground, while the unglazed lower half allowed the pot to breathe. A poetic relic of rural domestic life, now celebrated for its sculptural silhouette and sun-drenched palette.

To prepare for delivery, please be available during the scheduled window to provide a signature upon receipt. Ensure there is a clear path for the delivery team to navigate to the desired room. Our delivery team cannot move existing furniture within your home.
