Overlapping feathers are deeply articulated across the wings and breast, while darker recessed areas emphasize the pattern and give the silvered surfaces greater depth. Small eyes and individually modeled beaks bring an expressive quality to each bird.

The penholder is cleverly concealed within the largest quail, its opening revealing a fitted interior for pens. The two smaller quails serve as paperweights, one of which is a lighter that is no longer functional. Their compact forms give them enough visual presence to stand as decorative objects in their own right.

Produced during a period when Gucci extended its distinctive approach to luxury into objects for the home, the set balances wit with finely worked detail. Each piece is marked “GUCCI Made in Italy” on the underside, reinforcing the provenance of the group.

Displayed across a desk, library table, or console, together, the three quails feel almost like a small family, functional objects transformed into something playful and collectible.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0740/0135/0967/files/kE0RmZ3Rfk1lpIR43_BQjuM2sLUvtA8QjZPARCfJHqg.jpg?v=1790803017
https://thesouthlooploft.com/products/italian-silver-plate-quail-motif-penholder-paperweights-by-gucci-1970s
