At the center, a clear mirrored surface is finished with a beveled edge, creating a subtle transition between the reflection and the surrounding glass. A broad band of smoked glass extends outward, its rich amber-bronze tone giving the piece a warmth that shifts with the light. The contrast between the two surfaces is particularly compelling: one remains clear and reflective, while the other introduces color, depth, and a softer, more atmospheric reflection.

Around the outer perimeter, a series of elongated, rounded impressions interrupts the smooth glass. Evenly spaced along the oval, these details resemble shallow indentations or pressed folds, catching light differently from the surrounding surface. Their reflective edges create small areas of brightness and shadow, giving the frame an almost liquid quality.

The mirror's construction reflects the experimental approach to glass that characterized Italian decorative design during the 1960s and 1970s. Cristal Arte was particularly associated with sophisticated mirror production, exploring the possibilities of shaped glass, beveled edges, and reflective surfaces as decorative elements in their own right. The attribution is especially fitting here, where the design relies entirely on the manipulation of glass to achieve its sculptural effect.

The smoked glass retains its warm, reflective quality, while the repeated perimeter details create an interesting rhythm that becomes more pronounced when viewed from an angle. Above a console, in an entryway, or as a standalone wall piece, it introduces warmth and movement without requiring additional ornament.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0740/0135/0967/files/G-qi7rIUBZA8o7L9tMU5mO06p7JU3rDZwEhLW5Bto9U.jpg?v=1791587575
https://thesouthlooploft.com/products/italian-smoked-glass-oval-wall-mirror-attributed-to-cristal-arte-1970s
