A Mid-Century Modern leg splint created by Charles and Ray Eames for Evans Products Company in the 1940s. Specifically designed for the US Navy, this leg splint is crafted of molded plywood and birch. Can be mounted horizontally or vertically as an eye catching wall sculpture. Marked model no S2-1790.
Charles and Ray Eames were two of the most influential designers of the 20th Century. During World War II, the U.S. Navy called upon these designers to create an easily transportable, lightweight leg splint. The result was highly sculptural yet functional. During this process, the Eames duo mastered a plywood-molding technique that later became prevalent in future furniture designs.
DIMENSIONS: 7.5”W x 3.5”D x 43”H
CONDITION: Good overall vintage condition for age and use. Minor scratches are present throughout.
