Tall Black Murano Glass 'Scavo' Vase by Alfredo Barbini, Italy 1970s
A tall Italian 'Scavo' vase designed by Alfredo Barbini in the 1970s. The modern, cylindrical silhouette is composed of Murano glass and features a black iron oxide finish. ‘Scavo’ is the specific glass finishing technique in which corrosive chemicals are used on the surface to dissolve part of the finish — giving glass an etched or corroded look. Signed on the base 'Barbini Murano'. Italy, 1970s.
