A mid century modern Italian dining table featuring a stunning and not often seen green marble top, reminiscent of works by Ignazio Gardella. This gorgeous specimen of marble has hues of green, rust and light gray. The marble top is a soft octagonal shape (though largely rectangular spatially) with a knife edge bevel. The black steel trestle base has brass feet.

Ignazio Gardella is an Italian architect, engineer and designer who actively participated in the creation of the modern movement in Italy. The young Gardella grew up in a family of architects, graduating in civil engineering in 1930 from the Politecnico di Milano. He has been one of the founders of Azucena in 1947 along with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua. This was the first company in Italy to produce quality design. Gardella himself designed some decorative furniture items, combining modernist aesthetics and formal elegance that also fully reflected his architectural style.

CONDITION: Minor wear and marks to the steel base concentrated on the legs. Patina to the brass sabots. Marble is in excellent condition. The top is not affixed to base.
