A ‘Pianura’ lounge chair designed by iconic Italian designer Mario Bellini for Cassina. This armchair features a solid walnut wooden frame which has been refinished. It retains it’s original rich chocolate-colored mohair velvet.

Mario Bellini (1935–) is an internationally renowned Italian architect + designer. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1959 and has received accolades in a variety of design fields, including the Compasso d’Oro award eight times and the Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement by the Triennale di Milano. Bellini has designed numerous famous buildings around the world, from museums to banks, galleries + convention centers. His works range from industrial design to furniture design. Bellini collaborated with a number of companies including B&B Italia, Cassina + Heller Furniture; the New York MoMA has 25 of his works in their permanent collection.

CONDITION: Good vintage condition. The solid walnut wooden frame was professionally refinished. The original chocolate brown mohair does show signs of wear, consistent with age and use. We have elected to sell it in its current state so the end user can select their fabric.
