A two-seat + three-seat ‘Arcata’ sofa designed by Gae Aulenti for Poltronova in 1968. These sculptural sofas feature walnut frames with arched seat backs and arms, whose curves are emphasized by circular and demilune cutout details. These sofas retain their original patinated burgundy leather upholstery. Unmarked. Sourced in Italy, 1960s. We have one two-seat ‘Arcata’ sofa + one three-seat ‘Arcata’ sofa available. Gae Aulenti (1927-2012) was a prolific Italian architect, art director and product designer renowned for her post-war style and industrial designs. She was the art director of FontanaArte and designed a range of modern, innovative pieces. Aulenti was one of few women in the field at the time and is regarded as one of the most iconic figures in Italian design and architecture.

CONDITION: Great vintage condition. Minor wear to the walnut frames, including one chip to the back of one of the legs on the two-seat sofa can be seen in photographs.
