The ‘Flamingo’ dining chair, designed by Cees Braakman for Pastoe in the 1960s, is a nod to mid-century Dutch minimalism. The design features a chrome-plated wire-mesh frame with curved steel rods, creating an airy yet strong silhouette. This set of eight includes beige fabric cushions for the seat and back, adding subtle contrast and comfort. Only two chairs retain the original buttons to secure the cushions to the frames.
The collaboration between Cees Braakman and Pastoe is a significant chapter in the history of Dutch furniture design, marked by a blend of simplicity, functionality, and elegance. Cees Braakman joined Pastoe in 1945 and became the company's head of design, holding that position for several decades. His influence played a crucial role in transforming Pastoe into an internationally recognized brand.
