An elegant Italian silver-plated bowl or centerpiece designed by Italian silver designer, Lino Sabattini. The spherical silhouette features a kidney shaped opening and polished finished.
Sabattini's works are known for their dramatic angles, or sweeping, wing-like flourishes, or consist of perforated ovoids somehow reminiscent of sculptures by Brancusi, like the piece seen here.

Lino Sabattini was a leading figure in modern Italian silver and metalware design, known for his bold and diverse creations. Self-taught, he honed his skills in metalsmithing and learned about fluidity of form from the German ceramist Roland Hettner. At 30, Sabattini opened a studio in Milan, catching the attention of Gio Ponti, who featured his work in Domus magazine and helped launch his career. This exposure led to his role as artistic director at Christofle, the renowned French silverware maker. Sabattini's designs, such as the elegant Como coffee service and the innovative Stairs tea set, showcase his ever-evolving aesthetic. His work remains a testament to his questing curiosity and creative brilliance.
