Italian Fluted Wood Credenza, 1950s
Stretching nearly eight and a half feet in length, an Italian credenza from the 1950s.
The form is long and deliberate. A projecting molded top extends beyond the case, while gently curved corners soften the linear silhouette, giving the piece a measured characteristic of mid-century Italian design.
The fluted cabinet fronts are the defining feature. Their continuous vertical rhythm catches the light differently across each panel, creating movement and depth while keeping the overall form restrained. Brass hardware introduces a contrast against the warm wood, with two brass keys included.
A stamp reading “Firenze,” meaning Florence, appears on the piece, connecting the credenza to the Tuscan city and its long tradition of furniture making and decorative arts.
With its generous scale and disciplined detailing, the credenza is suited to a room that can accommodate its presence. Along a dining room wall, it provides substantial storage while establishing a strong horizontal line. In a living space, its fluted surfaces and brass accents give the room subtle texture.
