Etched Brass + Inlaid Agate ‘Horizon’ Coffee Table by Felix De Boussy, Belgium 1976
A stunning polished brass coffee table titled ‘Horizon’ by Belgian designer Felix De Boussy, 1976. This table features a geometric etched design with contrasting abstract patterns inspired by the surface of the moon. The tabletop has a beautiful inlaid agate stone, which is highlighted by a raised circular brass trim. It stands on two black lacquered metal tripod bases and is signed ‘F. De Boussy 1976’ on the top left edge of the tabletop.
Felix de Boussy is a 20th century Belgian designer known for his innovative use of natural materials. Along with Willy Daro, Boussy is credited with starting the “material revolution.” Boussy’s and Daro’s audacious furnishings featured an unlikely merging of brass, minerals, fossils, coral, shells and stones. The works from this era frequently share commonalities with brutalist-style design while retaining a luxurious look and feel.
