Trio of Italian Silver-Plated Candleholders by Lino Sabattini, 1970s

$2,200.00

A trio of 1970s ‘Fiamma’ candleholders, designed by renowned Italian designer and silversmith Lino Sabattini. Crafted from silver-plated metal, their sculptural forms elegantly support two candles each. This versatile set can be arranged in various positions, either together or individually.

Lino Sabattini (1925–2016) was a leading figure in modern Italian silver and metalware design, celebrated for his bold and diverse creations. Self-taught, he honed his skills in metalsmithing and drew inspiration for fluidity of form from German ceramist Roland Hettner.

At the age of 30, Sabattini opened a studio in Milan, where his work caught the attention of Gio Ponti. Ponti featured his designs in Domus magazine, helping to launch Sabattini's career. This recognition led to his appointment as artistic director at Christofle, the renowned French silverware maker. Sabattini's iconic creations, such as the elegant Como coffee service and the innovative Stairs tea set, reflect his ever-evolving aesthetic. His work remains a testament to his boundless curiosity and creative brilliance.
