Belgian Bonsai Base Coffee Table with Glass Top by Willy Daro, 1970s
A 1970s Belgian coffee table by Willy Daro, defined by its sculptural brass base shaped like a bonsai tree. A square smoked glass top rests above the intricate base.
Willy Daro, born in Belgium in 1918, was known for his botanical and floral sculptural forms, as well as his integration of Brutalist style with luxurious natural materials such as fossils and minerals. He founded his factory, Les Nouveaux Ateliers Willy Daro, in Brussels in the early 1960s, where he created sophisticated furniture and decor until 1987.
