Bronze 'D Cup' Gourd Bowl by Nancy Pearce

$500.00

A solid bronze 'D Cup' Gourd Bowl cast in LA by artist Nancy Pearce.

Notes from Nancy:
"Bronze artifacts, nevertheless, I existed," is an homage to my persistence, echoing the resilience of these objects as historical records. I began casting everyday items in bronze about eight years ago, starting with a dustpan and my child's plastic toys, to highlight the unglamorous work behind them.

This playful experiment evolved into a serious endeavor amid climate change and mass extinction threats. Motivated by a New York Times podcast on Neanderthals, I aim to archive everyday objects in bronze, ensuring future archaeologists have pieces of our history. The durability and recyclability of bronze mean these items will outlast their originals and could serve as currency in a dystopian future.

My work has gained recognition, leading to collaborations with AD100’s Pam Shamshiri, Commune Design, Ashley Botten Design, and Heath Ceramics. I have also partnered with Julianne Moore and Kelly Klein on projects supporting gun violence prevention, a cause I am deeply committed to, given its impact on children in the United States.
