Italian Walnut + Rosewood Framed Wall Mirror, 1960s
Defined by an elongated silhouette and the warm tones of walnut and rosewood, an Italian wood-framed wall mirror from the 1960s.
The outline widens gradually from a narrow, flat top before changing direction below the midpoint and tapering toward the base. These angled sides give the mirror a distinctive geometry, while softly rounded corners ease each transition. The shape draws the eye along its perimeter, bringing movement to a simple vertical form.
The frame combines reddish-brown tones with darker grain, its smooth, gently rounded face catching light along the outer edge. A recessed inner molding creates a narrow shadow around the glass, adding depth without introducing ornament. The rosewood and walnut supply the decorative detail through their color and natural figuring.
The mirrored surface follows the same six-sided outline, leaving a generous, uninterrupted field of reflection. Above an entry console, the mirror introduces height and a strong focal point. In a bedroom or dressing area, its elongated proportions offer a useful reflection.
