Pair of Silver ‘Shogun’ Wall Sconces by Mario Botta for Artemide, Italy 1986

$6,800.00

A rare pair of ‘Shogun’ wall sconces designed by Swiss Architect Mario Botta for Artemide in 1986. These iconic sconces feature adjustable perforated silver enameled metal shades, which provide beautiful ambient lighting and mesmerizing shadow effects when illuminated. Italy, 1986.

Throughout the 1970s, Mario Botta rose to prominence for his groundbreaking geometric designs and seemingly simple forms, exemplified by his first major project, the Middle School in Morbio Inferiore, Switzerland, completed in 1977. In the 1980s, Botta solidified his reputation as a master of postmodern design, not only in architecture but also in furniture. His postmodern aesthetic is evident in the dining tables and seating he created for companies like Alias, as well as in the table lamps and floor lamps he designed for Artemide.
