The ‘Area 50’ pendant light, designed by Mario Bellini, is a rare and iconic piece produced by Artemide in 1976. The resin shade, delicately folded like flowing fabric, diffuses light in a soft, ambient glow, enhancing its poetic presence. It retains its original metal canopy and doughnut-shaped counterweight in a white enameled finish, allowing for variable height adjustments.
Mario Bellini is a celebrated Italian architect and designer known for his fluid, sculptural approach to form. While he is best known for his work with brands like Cassina, B&B Italia, and Olivetti, Bellini also collaborated with Artemide, a company renowned for pushing the boundaries of lighting design. His designs often merge organic shapes with technological innovation, which aligns with Artemide’s ethos.
