Belgian Slate + Wood Coffee Table, 1970s

$5,400.00

A 1970s Belgian coffee table, defined by the contrast between a honed slate top and solid wood block supports.

The top is cut from Belgian bluestone, its matte surface marked by fine speckling and subtle variation that gives the stone a quiet depth. A light-toned composite band beneath the stone introduces a subtle break—softening the transition and giving the top a layered, slightly lifted profile.

Below, two substantial wood supports anchor the piece. Left largely unrefined, the blocks reveal the natural character of the timber—end grain exposed, with visible splits that speak to the raw cut of the material.

The composition is direct: stone resting on wood, weight balanced by openness. Low in height and grounded in proportion, it works easily within a seating arrangement—substantial enough to hold a room, but restrained enough to layer with other pieces.

DIMENSIONS: 34"W x 21.5"D x 10"H

ADDITIONAL DIMENSIONS: Stone top 28"x21.5"

ORIGIN: Belgium

PERIOD: 1970s

The wood base retains its original character, with visible splits and surface variation inherent to the timber. Structurally sound and presents well.
