Framed Abstract Watercolor by May Bender, Late 20th Century
An original abstract watercolor on paper by modernist American artist May Bender. This mixed media painting was created with pencil and watercolor, showing elegance in its simple organic shapes, which are depicted in three colors that overlap to create different shades. Presented in a new blonde wood frame with a white mat. Signed lower right. Late 20th Century.
May Bender is a lifelong painter who created art throughout her successful career as a principal in an industrial packaging design company. After graduating with distinction from the High School for the Arts in Newark, New Jersey, she continued her art education at the Art Students League of New York, studying with recognized masters Howard Trafton and Vincent Malta.
Further studies in marketing and production expanded her extraordinary knowledge of life and art. Her organization, May Bender Design Associates, does industrial design, packaging and product design, and corporate identity. She has written numerous articles and teaches packaging design at Parsons/The New School in New York.
Awards include: 1985 Council of Packaging Designers International Packaging Person of the Year Award and 1980 CLIO Award.
