A French aluminum and ash wood chair designed in 1968 by Georges Candilis and Finnish interior designer Anja Blomstedt for the Carrats Holiday Village in Port-Leucate, created as part of a broader vision for accessible design, collective living, and architectural experimentation.

The chair reflects a philosophy of simplicity and adaptability. Constructed from solid ash wood components joined with aluminum angle brackets, the design was conceived to be easily assembled, disassembled, and transported. The exposed connections become part of the aesthetic, revealing the honesty of the materials and the logic behind the structure.

Produced by the Sentou workshops, only a few hundred examples of this rare edition were made. The combination of warm wood and industrial aluminum creates a distinctive balance between natural and modern elements, while the clean geometric form embodies the practical optimism of late 1960s French design.

Created for the Carrats Holiday Village, a groundbreaking architectural project spanning nearly five hectares along the Mediterranean coast, designed by architects Georges Candilis (1913-1995), Georges Wursteisen, Pierre Raoux, and Zygmund Knyszewsky, the chair was part of a larger social vision. Designed around modular bungalows, terraces, patios, communal spaces, and areas for gathering, the village explored how architecture and furniture could contribute to a more connected way of living.

Lightweight and purposeful, the chair carries the spirit of its original setting. In a dining room, it introduces a refined sense of utility. Within a contemporary interior, it serves as a reminder of a moment when design sought to be both democratic and enduring.
