French Art Deco Cherrywood + Maple Marquetry Side Table, 1920s
Crafted in cherrywood with intricate maple marquetry, a French Art Deco side table from the 1920s.
The octagonal top is framed by an inlaid border before unfolding into a delicate geometric pattern, while the apron continues the rhythm with repeating linear motifs. Every detail reflects the decorative flourish of the Art Deco movement, where ornament was integrated into structure rather than applied to it.
The base introduces a distinctly Moorish influence. Four sweeping supports rise in graceful arches from a cross-shaped plinth, creating a silhouette that feels both architectural and light. At the center, a small marble platform anchors the composition, adding material contrast while reinforcing the table's balanced proportions.
