From there, the surface was gradually rebuilt, layer by layer, to reflect how the piece would have appeared when first produced in the 1940s.

That process is not about making the piece look new, but about restoring clarity, allowing the grain, the marquetry, and the inlaid details to be seen as they were intended. The finish has depth without heaviness, and a softness that responds naturally to light.
