French Brass Arrow Floor Lamp by Marcel Guillemard, 1950s

$6,400.00

A French brass floor lamp by Marcel Guillemard, dating to the 1950s. The design is defined by three slender brass uprights arranged in a crossed formation, each articulated with applied arrow and fletching motifs. The structure rises from a shaped wooden base, grounding the composition with warmth and visual weight.

A newly sourced cylindrical fabric shade crowns the form, diffusing light evenly while preserving the lamp’s graphic silhouette. Both decorative and architectural, the piece reflects the period’s fascination with symbolism, craftsmanship, and expressive metalwork.

Literature: La Maison Française, #93, December 1955-January 1956. Same model featured in an advertisement for Les luminaires de Marcel Guillemard et ses fils page XL.

Marcel Guillemard (1886–1932) was a French furniture and interior designer active during the early 20th century, best known for his refined contributions to the Art Deco movement. Trained at the École Boulle, he developed a style that balanced modernist clarity with fine craftsmanship, often favoring elegant proportions, subtle ornamentation, and rich materials.

Guillemard designed both bespoke furniture and interiors, and also produced works for larger audiences through manufacturers such as Primavera, the design atelier of Le Printemps department store. His designs remain admired for their quiet sophistication and thoughtful restraint within the Art Deco canon.
