French Brutalist Wrought Iron Accent Chair by Jean-Jacques Argueyrolles - 2 Available

$9,800.00

Sold and priced individually.

This French Brutalist accent chair by Jean-Jacques Argueyrolles rejects convention in favor of mythic geometry. Crafted from iron, its back is defined by a large, downward-facing triangle—harshly planar and unapologetically symbolic. Two slender uprights extend above it, each capped with a gilded arrowhead finial.

The seat, low-slung and accented with a gilt geometric motif, floats on four wiry legs—each kinked and jointed at severe angles. The perfect low chair for sitting by the fireplace. Argueyrolles’ language is one of tension—blurring the line between furniture design and sculpture.

Jean-Jacques Argueyrolles was born in 1954 near Paris. He works with bronze, stone, iron, and wood, designing furniture lines in a minimalist-baroque style while also creating sculptures and monumental works. He considers Dalí, Tàpies, and Moore his artistic masters, yet he sees himself as an autodidact—a self-made man—which helps explain the atypical nature of his work.
