French Ceramic Lava Glaze Vase, 1960s

$250.00

A French ceramic vase, created during the 1960s and  handmade in Vallauris, the picturesque seaside village in the South of France renowned for its pottery.

This single-stem vase reflects the expressive character of the French fat lava movement, where sculptural forms and richly textured glazes transformed everyday ceramics into objects of art. Slender in silhouette yet deeply tactile, its elongated form is designed to hold a single bloom, allowing both vessel and stem to share equal attention.

The vibrant turquoise lava glaze cascades across the surface in an organic, cratered texture, revealing layers of black beneath. The volcanic finish shifts with the light, giving the piece a sense of movement and depth, while the contrasting glazed black foot grounds the composition with quiet balance. A loop handle introduces an architectural gesture, breaking the symmetry and lending the vase a distinctive profile from every angle.
