French Gilt Bronze + Glass Table Lamp by Charles Schneider, 1920s - 2 Available

$2,400.00

A French Art Deco table lamp from the 1920s by Charles Schneider, pairing a gilt bronze base with a signed Schneider glass shade.

The glass shifts from deep rose at the base to a softly mottled cream above, with the colors gradually blending into one another rather than forming a hard division. Its flared form opens into a gently undulating rim, giving the shade a different profile depending on the angle. The Schneider signature is visible near the lower edge.

The gilt bronze base is equally detailed. A slender stem is worked with raised floral motifs and rises into an open foliate mount that holds the glass shade. More flowers and leaves repeat around the broad circular base, framed by a rope-twist border.

Charles Schneider founded the Schneider Glassworks with his brother Ernest in Épinay-sur-Seine, France, in 1917. During the 1920s, the workshop became known for richly colored art glass, often using layered and mottled effects that allowed color to shift gradually across the surface.

At 16.5 inches tall, the lamp has a narrow profile that keeps the focus on the combination of colored glass and detailed gilt bronze.

Sold and priced individually.
