French Hand-Crafted Oak Dining Table with Parquetry Checkerboard Top, 1960s

$7,400.00

Constructed entirely by hand in solid oak, this French dining table from the 1960s is defined by its parquetry checkerboard top and softly sculpted silhouette.

Across the surface, the direction of the wood grain shifts square by square, allowing light to catch each section differently throughout the day. The parquetry introduces subtle movement and texture while recalling the geometric flooring and paneling found in French interiors of the period.

Beneath the top, a softly scalloped apron lightens the solidity of the oak frame, adding a gentler rhythm against the otherwise linear form. Rounded feet and a stretcher base ground the table with balance while reinforcing its long horizontal proportions.

The scale feels especially versatile—large enough for dining, but restrained enough to work comfortably within a kitchen, salon, or more relaxed interior. There’s an ease to the piece that feels distinctly French: thoughtful craftsmanship, warm materials, and detailing that never feels overstated.
