French Hand-Forged Wrought Iron Gothic Revival Chandelier, 1920s

$6,600.00

A French chandelier from the 1920s, hand-forged in wrought iron, the fixture draws from the Gothic Revival tradition, where medieval forms were reinterpreted through craftsmanship and scale.

Suspended from heavy chains, its broad circular frame creates a commanding silhouette, recalling the great ironwork commissions that once illuminated churches, manor houses, and country estates throughout France.

The structure is defined by a continuous ring adorned with hand-worked detailing and an intricate network of scrolling supports. Each forged element contributes to a sense of rhythm and movement, softening the weight of the iron while celebrating the skill of the maker. Candle-style sockets encircle the perimeter, their warm vertical forms rising from the dark metal framework.

At its center, a suspended lantern introduces a secondary layer to the composition, balancing the openness of the outer ring with a more intimate source of light below. The combination creates visual complexity, allowing the fixture to be appreciated from every angle. Its scale defines how it inhabits a room. In an entry hall, it establishes a sense of arrival. Above a dining table, it gathers the space beneath it.
