French Holophane Glass Flush Mount, 1950s - 2 Available

$5,400.00

A refined study in mid-century French craftsmanship, this 1950s flush mount centers on a square Holophane glass shade — a material prized for its sophisticated command of light. Measuring twelve inches by twelve, the shade pairs vertically ribbed walls with a diamond-cut underside, creating a dynamic optical surface that refracts and softens illumination. At its center, a circular prismatic lens deepens the radiance, casting a gentle, even glow across a room.

The glass is held in an ivory-painted metal frame with crisp, architectural lines. The proportions are quietly elegant; the silhouette disciplined and unobtrusive. When installed, the fixture reads as a warm, luminous pane floating at the ceiling — perfect for hallways, entryways, dressing rooms, and spaces where ceiling height demands both presence and restraint.

Sought after for its rarity, material quality, and distinctive optical effect, this model represents the elevated end of mid-century French lighting. Holophane’s textured glass — now collected for its sculptural clarity and historical significance — is increasingly difficult to source in complete, intact form.
