French 'Mrs Frick' Chair by Philippe Starck for Les 3 Suisses & Disform, 1985 - 2 Available
The “Mrs Frick” Chair was designed by French industrial designer and architect Philippe Starck for Les 3 Suisses and Disform in 1985.
Crafted in black lacquered steel, the form is reduced to its essentials—slender tubular legs, a circular seat, and a sharply defined conical backrest. The back flares outward in a graphic gesture, its horizontal slits introducing rhythm while allowing light to pass through, giving the piece a surprising sense of openness.
Like many of Starck’s early works, the chair operates between function and statement. It folds, but not discreetly—the mechanism becomes part of the visual language. From certain angles, it reads almost as a line drawing in space.
Less about comfort, more about presence. A piece that sits somewhere between seating and object—best used where it can hold its own.
Sold and priced individually.
