French Oak + Ceramic Sideboard by Guillerme et Chambron for Votre Maison, 1960s

$14,800.00

Designed by Guillerme et Chambron for Votre Maison in the 1960s, this French sideboard embodies the studio’s distinctive approach to craftsmanship—where oak construction is balanced by expressive ceramic detail.

Crafted from solid oak, the case is defined by its warm honey-toned finish and architectural proportions. The façade is animated by a rhythmic sequence of carved panel doors, their rounded relief introducing depth and shadow across the surface. Above, a pair of fluted drawers sits between open shelving, creating a layered composition that feels both structured and inviting.

Running beneath the upper shelf, a band of hand-crafted earthenware tiles by Bolesław Danikowski introduces a subtle material contrast. Rich in texture and earthy in tone, the ceramics soften the precision of the oak, reflecting the collaborative spirit that became a hallmark of French design during the period.

Storage is generous yet discreet, concealed behind the sculptural doors while the open compartments provide space for books, objects, or everyday essentials. Every element is considered, from the carved detailing to the integrated handles, allowing function to emerge naturally from the form.

Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, both trained at the École Boulle, created work grounded in authenticity, balance, and craft—now synonymous with French 20th-century design.
