French Oak Two-Door Credenza Attributed to Charles Dudouyt, 1940s

$13,200.00

A 1940s French oak two-door credenza attributed to Charles Dudouyt. The rectangular body rests on splayed trestle legs joined by a central stretcher, a hallmark of Dudouyt’s design language. Two drawers sit above cabinet doors carved in bold pyramidal relief, their faceted surfaces flanking a vertical stack of stepped ridges at the center. Inside, the cabinet doors open to generous shelving, while the drawers above provide additional storage.

Hand-cut joinery, chamfered edges, and the time-softened grain of French oak speak to Dudouyt’s devotion to craft. More than furniture, it is functional sculpture: a commanding presence for a dining room, study, or entryway.

DIMENSIONS: 66.5"W x 20"D x 37.5"H

ORIGIN: France

PERIOD: 1940s

MATERIALS: Oak

CONDITION: Great overall vintage condition, with a time-softened patina to the oak. One very small chip to the top of a handle. This credenza has been partially refinished by our team of restorationists, enhancing its surface while preserving character; light marks and scratches consistent with age remain.
