French Three-Panel Fiberglass Wall Sculpture, 1970s

$6,000.00

A French wall sculpture from the 1970s, constructed in three panels and framed in poplar wood.

The composition unfolds through a sequence of curved reliefs that shift subtly across the surface. The fiberglass forms appear almost weightless within the frame, their arcs intersecting and receding like fragments of shadow or phases of a moon. Though geometric, the shapes retain a softness that changes with light throughout the day, giving the piece a sense of movement.

The textured white surface diffuses light rather than reflecting it, allowing depth to emerge gradually across the relief. Set against the warmth of the wood frame, the contrast feels architectural—balanced between precision and atmosphere. At just over six feet in height, the scale gives the work a strong vertical presence, though it can also be installed horizontally, where the composition takes on a more panoramic rhythm.

More than decoration, the piece functions as an intervention within the room, introducing shadow, proportion, and structure to the wall around it. In an entry, it establishes focus. Along a corridor, it draws the eye forward. Above a seating arrangement, it creates a sense of monumentality without heaviness.

A work that reflects the 1970s fascination with relief, geometry, and material experimentation—chosen not simply to occupy a wall, but to alter the architecture of the space itself.
