German Regency Console Table by LaBarge, 1970s
A German console table by LaBarge from the 1970s, where Regency influence is distilled into a composition of lightness, precision, and proportion.
The patinated brass base is composed of slender tubular supports, connected by understated stretchers that reinforce the structure without interrupting its openness. Delicately cast hoof feet provide a subtle classical reference, grounding the table with a detail that is both decorative and architectural. The result is a base that feels almost weightless, allowing light to move freely through and around the form.
Above, a thick beveled oval glass top introduces a sense of clarity and balance. The generous thickness of the glass gives the piece visual substance, while the softened edge catches and refracts light, creating a contrast against the warm patina of the brass beneath.
