Italian Art Deco Illuminated Bar Cabinet with Mirrored Interior, 1940s
An Italian Art Deco bar cabinet from the 1940s, softened by rounded corners and elevated on its original brass casters.
Designed to conceal a drinks cabinet within, it opens to a fully mirrored interior illuminated by integrated lighting. Two glass shelves with brass gallery rails display bottles and glassware, while the larger lower compartment accommodates taller bottles and decanters.
Richly figured veneers wrap the exterior, where meticulously bookmatched chevron and herringbone marquetry create a sense of rhythm and depth. The grain shifts with the light, revealing the cabinet's craftsmanship through pattern.
Reminiscent of work produced in Milan and Turin during the late Art Deco period, the cabinet reflects a moment when Italian designers embraced cleaner architectural forms while maintaining an exceptional standard of decorative artistry.
