Italian Brass Wall Mirror in the Manner of Luciano Frigerio, 1970s - 2 Available

An Italian brass wall mirror from the 1970s, in the manner of Luciano Frigerio, distinguished by its elongated oval silhouette and an expressive arrangement of sculptural brass scrolls.

The mirror is framed by two concentric ovals, creating a layered composition that feels decorative. The inner frame closely follows the mirrored glass, while a second, more open brass outline extends beyond it, introducing depth and allowing the wall behind to remain visible. The narrow separation between the two frames gives the piece an unexpected lightness.

At the top and bottom, the space between the ovals is occupied by a symmetrical arrangement of curled brass ribbons. Each end features a central circular loop flanked by two inward-turning scrolls, their broad, flat surfaces catching the light as they curve. The ornament feels almost calligraphic, as though the brass has been drawn into a series of continuous gestures.

The design recalls the work of Luciano Frigerio, whose furniture and decorative objects frequently explored the relationship between sculptural metalwork, traditional craftsmanship, and modern Italian design. During the 1970s, Frigerio developed a distinctive language that treated furniture and functional objects as opportunities for artistic expression. The mirror's combination of controlled geometry and expressive brass detailing reflects this sensibility, balancing the ornamental traditions of Italian craftsmanship with a more modern approach to form.

What makes the mirror especially compelling is the way its ornament becomes part of its structure. The open framework creates a sense of transparency, while the repeated circular and scrolling motifs establish a strong visual rhythm. Above a console, in an entryway, or positioned as a decorative focal point, the mirror introduces warmth and movement.
