Italian Hammered Iron Coat Rack Attributed to Salvino Marsura, 1970s

$3,800.00

A 1970s Italian sculptural coat rack attributed to Salvino Marsura. Crafted from hand-forged iron, it features a richly textured, hammered finish and five integrated hooks. Its abstract composition combines geometric forms, looping rings, and linear elements, creating a bold interplay of structure and negative space. The warm patina highlights the artisanal craftsmanship, lending depth and character. Both functional and expressive, this piece blurs the line between utility and art — a distinctive statement for any entryway.

Salvino Marsura, born in Treviso in 1938, is a distinguished Italian artist renowned for his mastery in metalwork. His extensive career, which began in the 1950s, encompasses a diverse array of sculptures, furniture, and architectural elements. Marsura honed his craft in the dynamic workshop of sculptor Toni Benetton, immersing himself in the rich tradition of blacksmithing.

Utilizing traditional tools such as the forge, anvil, and hammer, he transforms raw metal into expressive art forms. His work often features abstract compositions that blend geometric forms with natural motifs, reflecting a deep connection to both material and form. Marsura's creations are celebrated for infusing lifeless materials with character and soul, making him a significant figure in contemporary Italian art.
