Italian ‘Il Colonnato’ Red Travertine Dining Table by Mario Bellini for Cassina, 1970s

$16,500.00

Designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina in the 1970s, the "Il Colonnato" dining table draws its inspiration from classical architecture, where rows of columns create rhythm, balance, and structure. As you move around the table, the five cylindrical legs appear to shift and overlap, giving the design a sense of movement despite its monumental material.

Crafted from richly veined Persian red travertine, the stone reveals warm coral, rust, and soft pink tones that make every surface unique. The substantial top rests on five tapered cylindrical legs, each carved from solid stone and designed to be repositioned beneath the top, allowing the composition to subtly change while preserving Bellini's original intent.

Originally introduced by Cassina, the Il Colonnato has become one of Bellini's most recognizable furniture designs, celebrated for translating architectural ideas into everyday living. Monumental yet quietly refined, it functions as both a dining table and a sculptural centerpiece.
