Italian Lounge Chair Attributed to Silvio Cavatorta, 1960s - 2 Available

$4,200.00

An Italian lounge chair from the 1960s, attributed to Silvio Cavatorta. The chair features a softly contoured seat upholstered in a textured, nubby fabric that adds warmth and visual depth. The curved backrest and seat are closely integrated, forming a compact, sculptural silhouette.

Slender black metal legs provide a crisp contrast to the plush upholstery, lending the piece a light, architectural stance. Ideal as an accent chair in a living room, bedroom, or reading nook.

Silvio Cavatorta (1899-1957) was an Italian furniture designer and entrepreneur, renowned for his contributions to mid-century modern design. Born into a lineage of artisans, he took over his family’s Rome-based furniture firm in the 1930s, where he produced bespoke, high-quality pieces that balanced refined aesthetics with functional innovation.

Cavatorta’s work is celebrated for its clean lines, expert craftsmanship, and use of luxurious materials such as mahogany, teak, brass, and glass. His designs ranged from wall-mounted cabinets and wardrobes to beds and sideboards, often custom-made for discerning clients.

Though less widely known than some of his contemporaries, his pieces remain prized examples of mid-century Italian design.
