Italian Mahogany Console or Desk in the Manner of Luigi Fornasari, 1950s
An Italian console or desk executed in the manner of Luigi Fornasari, from the 1950s. The streamlined rectangular top is finished in pale formica, its smooth, light-reflective surface contrasting with the warmth of the mahogany frame that wraps the rear and sides in a continuous band.
The structure is supported by slender, angled metal legs joined by a horizontal stretcher, their dark patinated finish lending an industrial counterpoint to the richness of the wood, with brass accents at the leg joints and sculptural feet.
Equally suited as a writing desk or entry console.
