Model 1995 Pendant Light by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, 1960s

$10,000.00

A Model 1995 pendant light designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte in the 1960s. The conical brass shade, naturally patinated over time, tapers to a faceted glass diffuser below. The diffuser—smoothly cut and polished in a honeycomb pattern—fractures and scatters the light, creating a gem-like glow when illuminated. Above, a slim perforated ring encircles the upper shade, allowing small points of light to spill through.

Max Ingrand (1908–1969), the French designer and master glassmaker, served as artistic director of Fontana Arte from 1954 to 1967, shaping the company’s identity through an uncompromising commitment to glass as both structure and ornament. Trained as a glass artist, Ingrand approached lighting as a sculptural medium, using etched, frosted, and cut glass to manipulate light with precision. His collaboration with Fontana Arte produced some of the most iconic lighting designs of the 20th century.

Published in Fontana Arte 6 and the manufacturer’s catalog, this pendant is a rare example of Ingrand’s mid-century work. Both collectible and luminous, it becomes the focal point of an entryway or foyer.
