Italian 'Tavolo Borsani Gaetano' Marble Dining Table by Osvaldo Borsani, 1940s
An Italian dining table from the 1940s by Osvaldo Borsani, the elongated honed marble top holds a gentle finish, allowing the natural movement of the stone to speak for itself.
The paired solid wood pedestal supports are the defining gesture of the piece. Composed of curved stretchers and substantial vertical columns, the base introduces a sense of rhythm and permanence, creating a silhouette that feels as considered from every angle as it does in profile.
Above, a honed marble top softens the composition. Bookmatched through the centre, the stone reveals a continuous flow of natural veining, drawing the eye across its elongated oval form. The matte finish enhances the marble’s depth, favouring texture over polish and allowing the material to speak.
