Oak + Ceramic ‘Mambo’ Coffee Table by Roger Capron France 1960s

A beautiful French stained oak coffee table by Roger Capron. This table has rounded corners and features ceramic tiles from Vallauris, France in a geometric design with an incised line pattern. It stands on four thick cylindrical legs and has a beautiful patina. We love the rough edges on the tile and the contrast between glazed and matte finishes on this beauty. Sourced in France, 1960s.

Roger Capron (1922-2006) was an influential French ceramicist best known for his tiled tables and stylized nature motifs. In 1946, Capron founded a ceramics workshop, ‘l’Atelier Callis’ in Vallauris, before eventually expanding to a small factory. Over the years he had many significant collaborations and grew his factory to employ 120 people by 1980. The factory closed in 1982 following an economic crisis.
