Red Jucker Table Lamp by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Flos, 1963

$950.00

Designed in 1963 by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Flos, the Jucker table lamp is a defining example of Italian Space Age design. Composed of lacquered metal in a saturated red finish, the lamp is formed from two intersecting hemispheres—one enclosing the light source, the other acting as a movable outer shell.

The shade pivots along chrome-plated metal joints, allowing the light to shift from direct to indirect with a subtle adjustment. When angled open, the bulb is partially revealed, creating a soft halo of light; when closed, the form reads as a continuous sculptural volume. The base is weighted and grounded by a black plastic bottom plate, emphasizing stability beneath the lamp’s futuristic silhouette.

The Jucker reflects the Scarpa’s early exploration of industrial materials and adaptable lighting—playful and unmistakably of its time within 1960s Italian modernism.
