Spanish Verdigris Iron + Parchment Table Lamp by Pepe Cortés for BD Ediciones de Diseño, 1983

$5,200.00

A rare Spanish table lamp designed by Pepe Cortés for BD Ediciones de Diseño in 1983.

Constructed in iron with a verdigris patina, the structure is reduced to its essential lines—two vertical supports, a narrow crossbar, and an exposed twisted cord descending through the center.

An oversized parchment shade hovers above the base like a floating plane, softening the geometry beneath it. Perforated detailing near the crown introduces a subtle rhythm of light, while the scale—standing nearly three feet tall—gives the lamp an unexpected presence for a tabletop object.

More than lighting, it behaves like a small architectural intervention within a room.

Spanish designer Pepe Cortés studied at Barcelona’s Eina Design School before founding the multidisciplinary Grupo Abierto de Diseño. Known for his interiors, furniture, and retail spaces, he received multiple FAD Jury/Opinion Awards and served on the FAD board from 1984–1988. His 1993 Jamaica Stool for Knoll became an international design icon.
