Mid-Century French Art Deco-Style Wool Rug
Sourced in the South of France, this mid-century Art Deco-style rug features a polychrome design of large-scale scrolling foliage, stylized flowers, and geometric details that repeat across the field and border.
The palette is especially good, with muted sage green, dusty rose, lavender, ochre, and taupe giving the pattern a softness that feels very different from more traditional floral rugs. The wool pile gives each element a subtle relief, making the outlines and shifts in color more pronounced as you move across the surface. We’re especially drawn to the way the pattern balances its symmetry with all of those curving, organic forms; the closer you get, the more detail there is to notice.
At over 12 feet long and nearly 9 feet wide, it has the scale to anchor a substantial room. Despite its size and intricate pattern, the faded palette keeps it easy to layer with both vintage and contemporary pieces.
